Review of “SHARE WHAT MOVES YOU” event

When I first received the invitation email to “SHARE WHAT MOVES YOU” I felt a thrill of wonder. The email said that we’d gather and “share our inspirations” whether it be a song, poem, video clip or painting…It sounded just like a grown up version of “Show and Tell” the traditional children’s school game sanctioned by teachers in an effort to spark imagination, enhance kids’ descriptive abilities and accustom them early on in a benign way to public speaking. This introduction of spirit into the classroom was always my favorite kind of group interaction. For those few brief, shining moments we all got to drop our roles of student, teacher, peer, subordinate and share memories in the form of a seashell or photo, special toy or coin collection; and in doing so, we touched oneness in its truest form.

That’s what SHARE WHAT MOVES YOU re-ignited for all those involved. We got to peel away our masks and realign with our inner selves and with one another by sharing pieces of ourselves with strangers…funny…nothing strange about it. It felt natural and right and important somehow. The night evolved into a sort of witnessing of divinity in its many shapes and colors. The kaleidoscope of creativity and generosity of spirit permeated the room. We shared our stories and supported each other and lo and behold apart from all those lofty spiritual ideals it was just good old fashioned FUN! There was a welcoming vibe and sense of adventure in the air.

I truly believe that each and every one of us has something to contribute to the ever-weaving tapestry of life. SHARE WHAT MOVES YOU reaffirmed that for me in the nicest possible way. With all the hassles and worries of everyday life, a night like this is a gift and balm for the weary travelers on the path to enlightenment who get sometimes sidetracked or stuck in the traffic of their own whirring thoughts. It’s a powerful reminder of who we are and why we are here. To connect. To share. To show. To tell. To love. To laugh. To bear witness. To sing. To dance. To sparkle. And the media for this everyday, once-in-a-lifetime mysticism is you. And you . And you…….
